MA Leadership and Public Service Management

The aim of this programme is to develop highly skilled professionals with strong leadership capacity who will contribute to the development of good governance and excellence in public service management.

The programme consists of the following modules/courses:

  • Leadership and Management: Theory and Practice
  • Technology and Change in a Global Context
  • Societal Contexts, Cultures, Business Sustainability and Greening Markets
  • Economic Strategy: Macro Economics in Context
  • Transforming Public Services
  • Research Methods
  • Graduate Thesis

Those who graduate with an MA Leadership and Public Service Management are expected to be able to:

  • analyse evidence from a range of sources and use this as the basis for informing the development of public policy, good governance and excellence in the management of public services;
  • undertake applied research projects with a focus on analysing and solving real-world problems;
  • undertake leadership and management roles with significant levels of responsibility in a context of the student’s choosing – government, business or non-profit / non-governmental organisations (NGOs);
  • provide consultancy and training in good governance and the leadership, management and delivery of public services;
  • participate in policy formulation, implementation and evaluation in collaboration with other professionals;
  • make a positive contribution in wider society through creating social and institutional transformation and change.
